President Joe Biden reportedly has no plans to appear alongside Vice President Kamala Harris on the campaign trail before Election Day.
Harris said Wednesday on Fox News that her prospective presidency would not be a “continuation” of the Biden-Harris administration, aligning with Biden’s Tuesday comments that his vice president will “cut her own path” if elected. The Democratic duo will keep distant optics to further project this message, three Harris campaign officials and three White House officials told NBC News.

Biden dropped his reelection bid on July 21 via social media and endorsed Harris after weeks of reported internal and public pressure from high-profile Democrats. Both Harris and Biden aides told the outlet that the two must remain separated as the president continues “doing his job” and as Harris continues campaigning,
“He’s out there doing the job as president, and she’s out there campaigning,” one White House official, who requested anonymity, said. “It’s clear voters want something new.”
This comes after reports emerged of rising tensions between Biden and Harris. While those on Biden’s team are reportedly rooting for a Harris victory, several senior Biden aides “remain wounded by the president being pushed out,” Axios reported.
“They’re too much in their feelings,” one Harris ally told Axios of the president’s team.

During a funeral on Wednesday, President Barack Obama was caught on camera chatting with Biden. A professional lip-reader claimed Biden said “she,” potentially referring to Harris, is “not as strong” as him, to which Obama told him “that’s true.”
Biden appeared to break with his vice president in other recent occasions. Earlier this month, Biden held his first press conference as president just as Harris was about to take a stage at an event in Michigan.
That same week, Biden also praised Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for his hurricane relief efforts, emphasizing their communication, following Harris’s feud with the Florida governor for not taking her call.
Biden last appeared with Harris on stage for a joint rally in Pittsburgh on Sept. 2.
